I was able to watched last night an illegal copy of the yet to be released movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" in a pirated DVD copy on which I bought for around Php 35.00. This was already downloaded and recorded in DVD format on one of the stalls here in Olongapo City.
This is the Fox's official statement on the matter: Last night, a stolen, incomplete and early version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine was posted illegally on websites. It was without many effects and had missing scenes and temporary sound and music. We immediately contacted the appropriate legal authorities and had it removed. We forensically mark our content so we can identify sources that make it available or download it. The source of the initial leak and any subsequent postings will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law — the courts have handed down significant criminal sentences for such acts. The FBI and MPAA are also actively investigating the crime. We are encouraged by the support of fan sites condemning piracy and this illegal posting and pointing out that such theft undermines the enormous efforts of the filmmakers and actors and, above all, hurts fans of the film. If you watched the whole movie, YES it is really true. Some of the scenes were not yet finished and based on my judgments; the movie had little special effects. You can still see the wires attached to the actors. From this initial release, you will already know the whole story of Wolverine but not the special effects. So I think I might watch this movie when it hits the theater here in the Philippines. I don’t want to miss the special effects and other additional scenes (if any). For more information of the online leak, read the news in the BBC News Online - FBI called in over Wolverine leak.
